Dragons on Tahiti

We found out that it is impossible to drive around the whole island of Tahiti. We drove from Papeete to Teahupoo. The road ends at Teahupoo. There be dragons after that point, I guess. Speaking of dragons, we found one willing to pose at mile marker 0 in Teahupoo beside a surfboard statue.

End of the Road

These birds on a wire are literally at the end of the road, also known as Monoi Road. They are Brown Noddy and Black Noddy. It is difficult to tell them apart. The birds and a slow-moving white dog grace the end of the line. I don’t know if he is still there, but I hope he is. When we were there, he dined on bread and ravioli from Maureen’s mobile kitchen.

Surf’s Up

The wave action is why surfers from all around the world come to Teahupoo. But they are not for beginners. The waves are huge from May to October down here. Unfortunately, we had calm seas when we were there in June.

Coconuts in Tahiti

I have read that there are 13 words for coconut in Tahitian and just as many uses. It is the most common tree on the island even though botanically palms are not trees they are large, woody herbs; even a type of grass.

Coconut

We found someone gassing up their coconut truck outside of Papeete.

There will be a lot more about coconuts on Bora Bora. We were given a coconut husking lesson there.

Its like you read my mind! You appear to grasp
a lot about this, such as you wrote the guide in it or something.
I believe that you simply can do with a few percent
to force the message house a little bit, however instead of that, that is
great blog. An excellent read. I will certainly be back.
