Travel Horror Story in Warsaw
I don’t know what travel trepidations you have experienced, but this is what happened to me. It was a doozy. It was the biggest travel blunder I have ever made. I broke into a sweat when the guy behind the airline counter frowned, leaned forward, and said…
But, before I continue – listen, if you are ever in a panic and you are in the Warsaw airport and need emergency assistance to get the hell out of the country, and your cell phone is not working, there is a big, orange phone on the wall. It works, too! It took a while to figure out, but if you are just desperate enough you can figure anything out. Which is what I did.
I called Alex and explained that we had missed our departure day (it was the day before) and could he please buy new tickets for a flight for right now, today. He did. Instead of flying to Atlanta, we flew to New York, and then we flew to Atlanta. When we got to Atlanta, we caught the last shuttle leaving for the last hotel with the last room near the Atlanta airport. I’m not kidding. You try traveling in the middle of summer without reservations and see what you come up with. The next morning, we rented a car and drove home from Atlanta. What a marathon that was.
Home sweet home.
