Playing for our Supper

Having pounded the pavement all over Warsaw (or at least it seemed that way), we felt a tad peckish so we stopped for a bite. Since we were the only customers, I asked permission to play the piano. They said yes. I played my party piece which is a boogie-woogie number. Maureen and I played our duet, “Heart and Soul”. There was no reaction from the pierogi ladies. None. I asked M how I played. She said, “Well.” Moe had lentils and bacon, and I had cottage cheese and strawberry pierogies.
