Air Force One at the Reagan Library

Air Force One

Any Air Force plane that the President of the United States is flying on is called ‘Air Force One’.

I’ve always been curious about what the inside of Air Force One looks like. It reminds me of a big office for a lot of people with sleeping quarters in case you have to work late. Only this office has “the nuclear football.”

The Dog Pound

A fifth seat was installed in the cockpit for Reagan. He often liked to sit up there with the flight crew and talk with them. He knew they were away from their families and he appreciated their service. The press sits at the back and there is another plane that flies with Air Force One that also carries the press called “The Dog Pound”.

“If I Knew You Were Coming I’d’ve Baked a Cake”

There was one thing that Reagan always ensured was on board, besides his jellybeans, and that was a cake. If it was someone’s birthday, that person would get the first piece and sometimes they would sing Happy Birthday. Even if no one on board had a birthday, there was always an anniversary, graduation, birth of a baby, something to celebrate.
