Second Time in Vegas

Fast forward another decade. We are in Vegas for a Taekwondo tournament and staying at the Paris Hotel. For some reason, I did not take any pictures. None at all.

The Paris Hotel is not as central as Planet Hollywood, but it does have a casino underneath it. And from the casino, you can continue underground to the Las Vegas monorail. We took the monorail to the tournament.

We met Apollo and he gave us his card. I was not aware that the Las Vegas public transportation system had a bomb problem.

The Hoover Dam

We even went on a tour of the Hoover Dam and I did not photograph that awesome drop into the Colorado River. It was a cool, overcast, gray February day. I remember thinking that anyone could easily vault over this railing and goodbye cruel world. It is the highest concrete arch bridge in the world and the drop below is 900 feet. If you have any issues with heights do not venture forth onto this bridge. I do not have a problem with high places and even I felt light-headed standing there. There is no sound except the wind. In the middle of it is the border between Arizona and Nevada.

My Dam Tickets

I am including my dam tickets to prove that we actually were there. Our driver picked us up at the hotel and announced to everyone, “I am your dam driver”. Funny.

For 67 bucks each, they picked us up and dropped us off at our hotel. The Hoover Dam is 35 miles from the Vegas Strip.

It’s another 15 dollars to go inside the Power Plant where they explain how everything works.
