Before you go Insane

I collected a Western Trillium from the ragged shore of a creek or river outside of Crescent City at Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park. I knew it was a Trillium as soon as I saw it. This flower is the provincial flower of Ontario, Canada. Before anyone goes insane with EPDS Environmental Protection Derangement Syndrome (I just made that up) and calls me a monster like my brother did, I would like you to know that they are not endangered and grow with rampant abandon among the ferns, Redwoods, Spruce and other assorted conifers. Still, I think I should’ve photographed it in situ rather than in a plastic cup in a motel.

I found the Trillium ovatum also known as Western Trillium or Western Wake-robin behind these overturned Redwoods near the water.

I don’t know the name of this creek. Wait a minute…could it be Prairie Creek?

A stone’s eye view of the creek and enormous roots. It’s like looking up a skirt.
