Architecture is Frozen Music
Music is liquid architecture; Architecture is frozen music.
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
If you love to look at interesting buildings, go to Budapest and feast your eyes. The Hungarian Postal Savings Bank which is now the Treasury of Hungary is a prime example of this.
The site on which it stands used to be the location of a fortress and place of execution. It was known as the Hungarian Bastille. Below is the entrance to this fine edifice.
This is the roof of the building which nobody can see from the ground. That rather goes without saying, doesn’t it? It looks like part of a fairy tale. Centered in the background is the main dome of the Parliament Buildings.
Even McDonald’s is fancy in Budapest. This whole building is McDonald’s. It is part of the Nyugati (west) Train Station. Budapest has three train stations: Keleti (east and is the main one), Nyugati, and Déli (south) .
Look at those fancy shmancy light fixtures. It is considered the most elegant McDonald’s in the whole world.
