Captain Dangerous from Bora Bora

One morning I was standing by the side of the road waiting for a guide to take us for a ride in a boat around the island. We were going to do some snorkeling too. He was late. “Well, this certainly is no way to run a business.” I snorted, indignant at being kept waiting at the side of the road. I strained my eyes to look up the road and examined every vehicle that drove by. Suddenly this big guy in a baseball cap came out of the hotel. He called out to me because I was standing across the street. “Where are you going?!” he yelled. None of your business, I thought. I mean this was a big, wild-looking guy. “What?” I answered. He glared at me. I said, “I’m going on a boat ride!” He summoned me with a wave of his arm.

If you are going on a boat trip don’t be an idiot and wait for the boat on the road. Go down to the hotel’s harbor and wait for the boat at the water’s edge. Because I can assure you that is where the boat will be coming from…the water. Boat and water go together.

We were the first two (idiots) he collected. Doesn’t he look fierce though? Wouldn’t you take a moment to consider before you followed him anywhere? I did. On the way to the boat, I said to Maureen, “He could take us out to sea and dump us.” She said, “Ask him if there are other people on the tour .” I did. There were 3 more couples to pick up. Later on, I said to a woman who was with us, “Does he swim 20 miles a day or what?” She said, “I know, right?”
