Bora Bora

is Tahitian for ‘first born’. There is a legend that this island was created right after Raiatea.

Unsettling News

The following is a quote about events during Captain Cook’s voyage on board ‘Endeavour’. I apologize for ending on such a distasteful note, but these things happened.

They circumnavigated Tahiti, made soundings and mapped the shore line. They were dined on roasted dog, a rare delicacy, for the dogs there were vegetarians “It was deemed a very good dish.” Hatchets were exchanged for hogs, nails were in circulation again.

“Mutton”

One more thing. When Captain Cook was in the Queen Charlotte Islands which are off the west coast of Canada, he was fed dog meat. He said it tasted like mutton. Prime mutton.
