I Love Coke
Coke is from Atlanta. It was born here. Coke’s father was this guy.
Meet Mr. Pemberton. Mr. Pemberton was wounded by a Union saber in the American Civil War. Because of the pain he suffered, he became addicted to morphine. He hated that. He wanted to create something that would wean him off morphine for good. One night he accidentally mixed the syrup he had made with carbonated water. He decided then and there to market his elixir not as a medicine but as a refreshing drink. Southern women who suffered from “neurasthenia” were a prime market for this concoction. Neurasthenia is a nervous condition caused by sitting around all day doing nothing.
There is a big room with 10 stations where you can taste test all the Coke products from all over the world. Maureen said there was one drink from China that was plum-based and tasted like barbecue sauce. Ugh! Gag me with a spoon. Another one from Italy was “weird,” according to Maureen.
It’s the Real Thing in Atlanta
We visited Coke HQ. Do you know what? I’d like to buy the world a Coke…and keep it company.
And I’d also like to teach the world to sing, in perfect harmony.
It’s the real thing.
What the world needs today.
It’s the real thing.
Ghostly coke.
