Lolita was an underage girl sought after by a middle-aged man. Nabokov actually got the idea for the book from a true crime case that happened in New Jersey in the 1940s. Sally Horner, an eleven-year-old girl, was kidnapped and forced to live with a violent, older man for 21 months before the FBI found her and brought her home. Tragically, she was killed in a car accident at the age of 15.

I would say that there is a lot of creepy stuff going on here, but I hesitate to elaborate because my own daughter is taking part in it and I do not want to cast her as one of the weirdos.
