A Gator in Every Pond

Forget about a chicken in every pot. A word to the wise when visiting Florida: always assume that there is an alligator in every body of water. Always. If you do this, chances are that you will not fall prey to such a terrible death.

We were walking along one of the many trails on the island, whistling a tune and enjoying the crisp, winter chill for once; not a care in the world.

A few minutes later, we encountered yet another warning about gators. I have no idea what the apple signifies here. Maybe it could be used as a weapon against the repugnant reptile, I don’t know.

We were beginning to feel as if the whole place was crawling, literally crawling, with gators. And you know why? Because it is crawling with gators. It’s infested with them. Once again, we beat a hasty retreat on Amelia island.
